Situated on 20 acres of pasture, orchard and woodland in Cedar, just south of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, Quennell Lake Livestock Conservancy is dedicated to saving endangered breeds of livestock and poultry from extinction. QLLC is currently steward of five breeds of chicken, one breed of duck, the largest remaining herd of San Clemente Island goats in the world, and Colonial Spanish horses.
Our mission is
• to maintain viable breeding populations of selected endangered breeds and promote these breeds to the farming community and the general public;
• to develop and promote environmentally, socially and economically sustainable farming practices that are well adapted to our local landscapes and climate;
• to provide learning and training opportunities for children, young people and people facing challenges.
